Why should we all be including more fruits and vegetables in our diets?
I'm sure many of you know that fruits and vegetables are very important to consume on a daily basis. This is because they are both high in fibre, important nutrients and a great source of antioxidants. Including more fruits and vegetables in our diet can help protect us from getting infections now and diseases later on in life, they help increase longevity and reduce inflammation, improve gut health and digestive function, have a positive influence on our mental wellbeing and they help with weight management.

Below I have given you a few easy ways to include more fruits and vegetables everyday.
Add a portion of chopped fruit to your cereal/porridge in the morning or to plain, unsweetened yoghurt for breakfast or as a snack 🫐
Craving something sweet? Rather have a fruit instead of sweets or chocolates.
Include a fruit as a snack between main meals or at meals on the side 🍇
Add chopped up vegetables to your eggs - Vegetable Frittata / Veggie egg scramble 🍳
Instead of having crackers with cottage cheese or hummus as a snack, why not dip raw veggie sticks in the cottage cheese or hummus.
Aim for half a plate of vegetables at all your main meals 🥗
Replace starchy foods such as rice, potatoes, bread, samp and crackers with non-starchy vegetables such as cauliflower, cabbage or spinach. 🥬
Make a breakfast smoothie with a fruit and vegetable or have a smoothie as a snack. Add a fruit and vegetable to the smoothie with some yoghurt or milk and seeds or nuts.
